Strategy
Xenagos, God of Revels is a big-creature aggro deck built around doubling a creature's power at the start of combat and granting it haste. The plan is to ramp into large threats, then use Xenagos and other combat tricks to swing for lethal damage in one or two hits. Because Xenagos only becomes a creature when your devotion to red and green is seven or more, he mostly functions as a combat enabler rather than an attacker.
Early: Prioritize mana acceleration and fixing. Llanowar Elves, Elvish Mystic, and Arbor Elf provide early mana, with Arbor Elf untapping a Forest. Ruby, Daring Tracker taps for red or green. Sakura-Tribe Elder can chump-block then fetch a basic. Ramp spells like Cultivate, Kodama's Reach, Rampant Growth, Farseek, Skyshroud Claim, Harrow, and Grow from the Ashes build toward casting expensive creatures. Goblin Anarchomancer reduces red and green spell costs, and Somberwald Sage adds three mana toward creature spells.
Mid: Deploy powerful threats and start attacking. Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma makes creatures with power 4 or greater cost {2} less, and Ghalta, Primal Hunger becomes cheap once you have creatures on the board. Xenagos targets a creature at the beginning of combat to double its power and give haste. Managorger Hydra grows with every spell cast, and Soul of the Harvest draws cards when nontoken creatures enter. Fierce Empath and Signal the Clans dig for creatures, while Return of the Wildspeaker and Garruk's Uprising refill your hand.
Late: Close out with your biggest creatures and extra combat phases. Combat Celebrant can exert to grant an additional combat phase, Port Razer untaps your team and gives another combat after dealing damage, and Seize the Day plus Scourge of the Throne add still more attacks. Savage Ventmaw makes six mana each attack to fuel more spells. Etali, Primal Storm and Drakuseth, Maw of Flames generate huge advantage when they connect. Atarka, World Render gives your Dragons double strike.
Win conditions: Primary win is commander-boosted trample damage: pump a creature with Xenagos, then push it through with trample from Garruk's Uprising, Thunderfoot Baloth, or Goreclaw's attack trigger. Temur Battle Rage grants double strike, Unleash Fury doubles power again, and Ram Through or Soul's Fire deal a creature's power as direct damage. Fling sacrifices a huge creature for its power to the face. Giant Adephage copies itself on connection, and Hydra Omnivore hits every opponent at once. Drakuseth deals repeated bursts of damage on attack.
